Bush Library Opens; Congress Mulls DC Budget Independence - Apr 25,2013

The presidential library for George W. Bush opened today with all five living presidents attending. The library focuses mostly on 9/11 and the war on terror. We talk to Todd J. Gillman, Washington Bureau chief for The Dallas Morning News about the inauguration and then we go to Politico reporter Kevin Cirilli to discuss Bushs legacy. DC passed a charter amendment Tuesday that would give the city more autonomy by granting the nation's capital the ability to approve its own municipal budget. It's probably not surprising DC voters would – overwhelmingly – opt for such independence, but it's not entirely their own to take and Congress may have something to say about it. But they actually do have to say something or they forfeit the ability to say anything. But this is a Congress that can't seem to pass a national budget. We get more from Emma Dumain, Reporter for Roll Call where she covers, among other things, oversight of the District of Columbia.
